The University of British Columbia’s medical college is the UBC Faculty of Medicine. It is one of Canada’s 17 medical schools and the only one in British Columbia province. It has the second-largest medical education program in Canada and the fifth-largest in the United States and Canada. It is listed by the 2017 QS World University Rankings as the 2nd best medical program in Canada by Maclean’s 27th in the world.

Founded in 1950 in Vancouver, the Faculty of Medicine took in 60 medical students under the leadership of its first dean, Myron Weaver. The size of their incoming medical courses risen to 80 in 1974, 120 in 1980, and 128 in 2000. The medical program started in 2004 with a gradual development that more than doubled registration and spread medical education and training throughout the province at universities, hospitals, and clinics.
The size of incoming medical courses increased to 288, with one-third of those learners spending most of their four years at one of three locations in northern British Columbia, B.C.Interior, or the island of Vancouver. Correspondingly, the size and geographic range of the 71 medical residency programs of the Faculty of Medicine also increased.
The Faculty has added other instructional programs since its foundation, including physical therapy, occupational science, and occupational therapy, the sciences of audiology and expression, midwifery, and population and public health.
Research Career:
Most of the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s studies are carried out under the auspices of six institutes and 15 centres that are component of or affiliated with UBC. Some scientists are focused on the Vancouver campus of UBC, although many works in affiliated clinics of the Faculty of Medicine, particularly in Vancouver: Vancouver General Hospital, BC Cancer Agency,etc..
The Faculty of Medicine received $353 million from government, business, foundations, and non-profit organizations and other sources in study financing during the fiscal year 2015-16. Members of the Faculty of Medicine are liable for the issuance or filing of 132 patents and the development of six spin-off businesses.

How to get Admission at the University of British Columbia for Indian students:
Currently, more than 50 students from India are pursuing MBBS at the University of British Columbia. The climate is suitable for Indian Skin types, half the year is summer and the other half is winter. The winter temperatures are bearable to the students.
