The System

The German system is very complex and bureaucratic compared to other countries. Foreign doctors have a difficult time in Germany because of the administrative bodies, laws, accreditation, language, job application, work permit etc.
1. The specialty program takes place as a full-time training in a public teaching or private hospital. The training is supervised by certified senior specialists with special training permissions.
2. German or foreign nationality doctors have to apply personally and individually at many hospitals where such training jobs are currently announced.
3. No government placement agency or any centralized support system exists. All applicants have to search for open job announcements at all hospitals all over Germany.

Medical License

LICENSE TO PRACTICE MEDICINE IN GERMANY

In order to practice medicine or carry out specialty training in Germany, all physicians must be in possession of a valid full or temporary license to practice.
1. The full license to practice (Approbation) is valid across the country for an unlimited period of time. You will obtain the full license after passing the German licensing examination. We will assist you during this process.
2. The temporary license to practice (Berufserlaubnis) is limited to a certain time period and is valid only within the federal state in which it was issued. In certain cases, a temporary license may be limited to one position. You are allowed to work with the temporary license 6 months up to 2 years and it can be extended with our help.
